Common Materials of Oil Seals

2025-04-19

Common materials for oil seals include nitrile rubber, fluororubber, silicone rubber, acrylic rubber, polyurethane and polytetrafluoroethylene. Each of these materials has its own unique properties and application range.

1. Nitrile rubber (NBR)

Nitrile rubber has good heat resistance and wear resistance, and is suitable for various lubricants, greases and oil-gas mixtures. Its operating temperature range is -40 to 125 ℃, and it is resistant to mineral oil. It is used more in oil seals, but it cannot be used in ketones and lipid polar solvents.

2. Fluororubber (FKM)

Fluororubber has excellent heat resistance, oil resistance and aging resistance, and is suitable for all lubricants, fuels and gasoline. Its operating temperature range is -20 to 250 ℃, but its wear resistance and cold resistance at low temperatures are poor.

3. Silicone rubber

Silicone rubber has outstanding high and low temperature resistance and can be used for a long time at 150 ℃, and even for 10,000 hours at 200 ℃. Its operating temperature range is -60 to 225 ℃, and it has excellent ozone resistance and weather resistance.

4. Acrylic rubber (ACM)

Acrylic rubber has excellent oil resistance, heat resistance, wear resistance and UV radiation resistance, and is suitable for environments from -25 to 150 ℃. It is particularly resistant to lubricating oils, gear oils and engine oils containing extreme pressure fluids.

5. Polyurethane (PU)

Polyurethane has good elasticity and wear resistance and is suitable for various lubricating oils and greases, but its heat resistance is poor.

6. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)

PTFE has excellent chemical stability, thermal stability and friction reduction, and is suitable for temperatures from -65 to 260 ℃. It has excellent corrosion resistance to most chemicals, solvents and acids.

Depending on the actual use environment and performance requirements, other specific materials of oil seals can also be selected to meet different needs. Our materials are strictly screened, the quality meets international certification, and supports product customization.
